Current Fighter Verse:

"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, 25 whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith." Romans 3:23-25a (ESV)

Far-Away Fellowship For the Sake of the Gospel

Have you ever thought of some of the ways that technology can be used to glorify God? An amplifier can project the message of the gospel throughout a stadium filled of people. A DVD of the Jesus Film can be played miles out in the bush villages of Africa using a generator, a laptop, and a video projector. And we can even use the internet, and yes - even blogs- to remind each other of the gospel and to keep in touch with our Christian friends and family who might have moved away.
I was excited to hear recently that Jay and Heather White have started a blog. Jay and Heather and the kids just recently moved away to Tennessee because Jay got a job as a Youth and Children's Minister there. I put the link to their website over on the side bar under the heading "Fellowship" - go check it out! I am so glad that they did this so that we will be able to continue to be a part of their lives by keeping up with what they are doing, leaving them messages of encouragement, and simply continuing to fellowship with them as all of us continue to grow. I look forward to seeing Caitlin and Corbin and Ethan grow up through the pictures they post. I hope to continue the love and fellowship that we had together at OMV even partially through the medium of a blog on the internet.
And in doing this God will be glorified. He loves His church. And He not only loves the local church, but ultimately He loves the universal church - all of the believers in the world. He loves His church so much that Galatians says that Jesus even came and gave himself up for her. Jesus prayed in John 17 that His church would be unified. He prayed this not once but even three times. And the reason that He prayed this was "so that the world may believe that You (God the Father) have sent me (Jesus)" (John 17:21) And so while we sometimes think that fellowship is just an added blessing or something that is just nice to experience every once in a while, Jesus says that fellowship is an essential part of the spreading of the gospel throughout the world. How we relate to one another necessarily affects the spreading of the gospel and those who hear it. So at OMV, we must love one another for the sake of the Gospel and the Glory of God. And I would venture to say that we must continue to do all that we can to love and fellowship and be united with those who are far away from us. The Clarks, the Whites, the Ugandans, the folks at my home church. That is why we do so many retreats with churches from far away. Because we are to love, fellowship, have unity, and be in partnership for the advancement of the gospel. And in that, God will be glorified.
How can you show love to someone at OMV this week? How can you show love to a fellow believer far away?
