The Merge

Hey guys (and girls),

As you all know, this next Sunday is the big day - when we vote on the merging of OMV with Cornerstone. For over a year and a half, our church has been praying for God to give us land, a building, and a community in the Wake Forest/Rolesville area. We prayed, planned, and searched. Then almost 10 months ago this possibility of the merger came to our attention. And since that time, our elders, staff, and the Relocation committee has worked tirelessly to examine the pros and cons of this situation. I think we all, whether in favor of the merge or not, are looking forward to some closure to this situation.

I know that all of you, being under the age of 18, are not able to vote. But this decision is going to greatly affect you no matter what the outcome of the vote. So I thought I would leave you with a few things to think about, merge or no merge. These are things I would recommend to you, even if we weren't in the situation we are in right now.

1. We are all sinners. We never have any warrant to look down on another believer. Only by the grace of God are we where we are today, and we absolutely have no room to boast about anything but the cross of Christ.

2. We have committed to tenaciously love our church family. If we don't merge, that means the OMV folks. If we do, that means all the OMV/CBC folks.

3. Our lives are like a vapor. It is here one moment and gone another. We should never let the big picture lose our sight. I have most likely already lived almost 1/3rd of my life.

4. Whatever we do, or where ever we go, it is going to take hard work, long hours, and much sacrifice. There should never be a church situation that does not require those things.

5. Whatever we do, or where ever we go, it should be our desire to train up those who are less mature than us to grow and mature in Christ. That's called discipleship and is the main thrust of the Great Commission. Everyone was immature at one point in their lives, until someone more mature came alone beside them and taught them.
