Current Fighter Verse:

"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, 25 whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith." Romans 3:23-25a (ESV)

Mid-week Camp Update . . .

This week has really been an interesting week so far. I think I'll give you the highlights of what has been going on thus far.

Sunday afternoon: Packed up at the church, grabbed some quick Bojangles, and went off en route to Balitmore, MD. Flashflooding in RIchmond, VA left us moving about 10mph for almost an hour. Just a few bridges flooding over, that's all. We made it to Balitmore just slightly behind schedule. But hey, that's why we left a day early - to have an extra day of bonding and some coushin for possible delays. We strolled around the Inner Habor of Baltimore. It was beautiful. Paroused through the three story Barnes and Noble before eating at Hard Rock Cafe. Checked into our hotel in Essex, played some phase 10, and slept hard.

Monday: Woke up, got breakfast at Dunkin Donuts, and headed towards Philly. Made it in plenty of time, grabbed some authentic? philly cheesesteaks at the local mall, and ended up making about 12 wrong turns on the way back to the campus of Eastern University. When we made it back, things were heeeeectic as we attempted to be registered, oriented, unpacked, and evangelized. Highly stressful day for the Youth Minister, but it's all good. It ended amazingly, though. Powerful message from the camp Pastor with many students being saved right off the bat.

Tuesday: The food here is great. And even better than the food is our camp pastor Wade Morris. He preaches powerful application from the text of Scripture. He is blatantly honest, which always leads to authentic trust from the students and all those listening. The Worship leader is named Joel Engle and is simply amazing. He has a degree in Theology and in music. All of his songs are scripturally sound and he is a teacher as much as he is a musician. Very gospel-saturated.

Wednesday: Rec time today included the h20 challenge. Lots of water games, buckets of water, sponges being thrown, noodles being used as weapons - everyone soaked. But what I enjoyed most was that during all of the games, our group seemed to really work well together as a team, which is the whole point of those activities. We had some great sharing time as a group and as a group we made some commitments amongst ourselves that I can't wait to see played out next semester.
